determining mass. stoichiometry
« on: May 18, 2009, 05:25:00 PM »
Can someone please help me with this problem and show me how to work it out exactly? Using stoichiometry (mass to mass problem) and dimensional analysis.
Thanks in advance!

Determine the mass of antimony (Sb) produced when 0.46 g of antimony(III) oxide reacts with carbon according to the following equation:

Sb2O3+3C  :rarrow: 2Sb+3CO

Dear tinkas22;

That’s a normal "Stoichiometry Problem".

So you may apply the recipe/scheme from the Topic "Stoichiometry Problem":   "Stoichiometry Problem (#23’025)"
Therein is also an Example Diagram: How to do a "Stoichiometry Problem".

Good Luck!

(.46/291.512)*2*121.757= 0.384260133 grams Sb produced

Have you heard about significant figures?

Besides, giving straight answers is against forum rules.

Significant figures are dependent on the teacher, I left it up to him to determine how many significant figures he needed.
