Finance and Engineering
« on: June 07, 2009, 08:26:29 PM »
Hey all.
At the moment i am studying chemical engineering, but i am also doing majors in corporate finance, investment finance and quantitative finance. Originally i chose these extra finance degrees for the sake of being more employable, but was not sure if i'd enjoy them at all. Now, a year and a half into my degree, i can say that i do enjoy studying most parts of finance, so am happy with my decision.

However, i'd like to get the opinion of people who are (or have) worked as an engineer in industry. Will studying finance be beneficial to an engineering career? I'd imagine areas such as project valuation in corporate finance would be useful to somebody working as a manager in some engineering related field, which is essentially where i would like to work, but its something i never really did look into properly before actually starting the finance degree.

All input is appreciated,
Thanks,
Daniel.
