How to calculate wt%

Hello everyone,

I have to solve a problem and i dont really figure out a solution for it.
I want to prepare 10 grams of 1 wt% Au/TiO2 (1 wt% Au). So I'm using 10 grams of TiO2 and a solution of HAuCl4 3 H2O (99,99% purity and 49,5 % Au). My question it would be, how much HAuCl4 3 H2O should i dissolve in 100 ml water in order to get 1 wt% Au/TiO2?

Any idea how to calculate this would be very helpful

The mix that you want prepare - you want it solid? After drying?

Hi, yes after drying it it will be a solid.

 the final mass it will be 10 g (because i am using 10 g of TiO2 which is a solid)

Well, it doesn't hold water. You want 10 g of mixture containing 1% of gold, but if you are starting with 10 g of solid TiO2 you will not get 10 g of such a mixture - after all, it was 10 g even without gold ;)

Let's ignore it for now. How much gold should the final mixture contain?

if its 1 %, i think it should contain 0,1 g Au

Good. How many grams of HAuCl4.3H2O contains 0.1g of Au?

Hi,

I have made the next calculations for my problem>

I know that 100 g of Au/TiO2 ..contain....1 g Au
then for      10 g of Au/TiO2....i need....X g Au

X = 100 x 1 / 100 = 0,1 g Au brought with the solution HAuCl4 x 3H2O

To prepair 100 ml solution that contain 0,1 g Au i calculate like this>

100 g HAuCl4 x 3H2O....contain ...49,5 g Au
Y....contain.....0,1 g Au

Y = 0,1 x 100/49,5 = 0,2020 g HAuCl4 x 3H2O

Can anyone tell me is this method its the correct?

Is there anyone who can tell me if the method I used for the calculation of wt% is correct?

It would be very helpfull for me to get a confirmation or maybe to get help to do the calculation in the right way
