Adenosine and KOH
« on: July 01, 2009, 09:22:22 PM »
Adenosine -C10H13N5O4
(9-β-D-Ribofuranosyladenine, Adenine riboside, Adenine-9-β-D-ribofuranoside)

Need to reduce the endotoxin (lipopolysaccharides found in the outer membranes of gram negative bacteria) level in Adenosine. Although I have found that dissolving ~2.0g in 16ml of 5N KOH for 4 hours reduces/eliminates the endotoxins, I need to know if dissolving in the KOH is changing or breaking down the Adenosine? Will it break it down into Adenine and Ribose?

Before experimenting with the KOH concentration needed and the amount of time required before neutralizing the solution, I want to assure that I will still have Adenosine after treatment (and at the required levels).
