Simple Chem question...i think, but i don't know it.
« on: July 23, 2009, 10:08:03 PM »
A certain element X forms a compound with element Y in which there is one atom of X for every four atoms of Y. In this compound, 2.65 g of X are combined with 3.16 g of Y. When X reacts with oxygen, it is found that 2.23 g of X combines with 0.600 g of O, compound is formed containing one atom of X for each two atoms of O. Calculate the atomic mass of Y.

Start from this part - you can calculate an atomic mass of X - of course, balanced reaction is needed
