Converting from cm into km
« on: July 23, 2009, 05:05:14 PM »
Ok, in my chemistry class, i am stuck on this question:
 Convert 5.9 x 10^7 cm into km
to solve it i did:
5.9 x 10^7 x 10^-2m/1cm x 1km/10^3m = 5.9 x 10^2
=590
But my teacher said the correct answer is 59, where did i make a mistake?

As long as he has no problem admitting he was wrong that will be occasionally annoying, but not dangerous. If he is not able to admit he was wrong - you are at serious risk.

I had a similar problem with an A-level physics teacher. He literally dictated sections out of the text book in lessons (especially the mathematical sections). When he made errors, we called him on them, and he would not admit he was wrong, so we ended up ignoring him and just followed the text book.

All of our class passed the A-level exams ( ;D) but we later found out both of his kids failed.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Haha. I realised alot teachers just plainly follow textbook and never know what they are really teaching. But my chemistry teacher is really good, very knowledgable and confidence in things he taught and never fail to answer my questions. Good teachers are spottable and i never once bother to ask my physics teacher questions. I rather figure it out myself.
No matters what results are waiting for us, it's nothing but the DESTINY!!!!!!!!!!!!
