What means 50% Proline?
« on: August 14, 2009, 12:01:51 PM »
Hi,

I have a recipe for tissue culture medium and this recipe is asking for 50% proline it does not state how much (mg, g etc,)?  I do not understand it?
I tried to look for some answers before with no success.

Could someone please help me?

Thank you.

What's the full recipe? Without much context, anything could be the answer, to be honest.

Hi,

It is just simple MS medium supplemented with 1.0 mg/l 2,4-D,
0.5 mg/l BAP and 50% proline.

Hope that gives some idea.

Thanks

the unit should be either % w/w (weight/weight), % w/v (weight/volume) or % v/v (volume/volume) and is in terms of g/100 g (w/w), g/100 mL (for w/v) or mL/100 mL (for v/v)

If the proline is a solid then a 50% w/v will be 50g proline in 100 mL of solvent.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
