what is the advantage of using FT-IR than dispersive IR ?

IT s quick, and It does not use any kind of dispersing device like a prism or grating. Instead of that FT IR use Hoffman interferometer and it convert that interferometer signal in to wave length by furrier trans formation. So the wave legth of the appeared signals are more reliable than dispersive one. In dispersive it transmit the 10-20% of radiation power emitted by the source to the sample. So the signal to noise ratio is high. But interferometer transmits all radiation to the sample and therefore high signal to nice ratio.
