Hi!

I need help with this problem.

I have done an experiment on the synthesis of nitritopentamminecobalt(III) chloride. Then synthesis of Nitropentamminecobalt (III) chloride from nitritopentamminecobalt(III) chloride.

The first synthesis was successful, However, Nitropentamminecobalt (III) chloride was not formed from nitritopentamminecobalt(III) chloride. I am not sure why the synthesis of nitritopentamminecobalt(III) chloride did not take place.
I just added boiled water with ammonium hydroxide to nitritopentamminecobalt(III) chloride and after cooling I added HCl.

Does anyone know a reason why the isomer did not form?
