How to analyse this set of data
« on: November 14, 2012, 10:24:14 AM »
Hey everyone,

I have a set of data that needs analysing. What sort of things can I compare.

I could put the data in an excel spreadsheet and order it but that's about all I would know to do, as well as some graphs. What else can I do to compare the values?

The only thing I see is grain size vs concentration for each metal.

You can find the total conc. of each metal in 1 gm sample.

Also can plot cumulative and differential curves for total mass as well as each metal. It's quite a rich dataset I think.

Also lets you answer questions like "If the legal limit on Pb is x μg / gm  what particulate filter  (upto what sizes do I need to get rid of) do I need" etc.

The ranges show some gaps and overlap though. Will be interesting how you handle that.

Some total metal concentrations might also be useful. Are some particle sizes more metallic than others?

I would plot the total metal concentration and the concentrations of each metal on a graph. Perhaps the changing ratios of metals might suggest the source of the particular particles?
