Low temperature DSC standards
« on: September 16, 2009, 04:28:28 PM »
Hello all,

I'm looking for some good low temperature standards for subambient DSC measurements. I'm interested in the -10 to -50 degC range.

The only literature reference I've come across thus far suggests the use of 1,2-dichloroethane. Could work...
I also have some articles on order from the library, but I'm impatient.

Thanks in advance!

There are a number of elastomeric polymers with glass transitions in that range.  Are you looking for NIST traceable, or would a rubber sample suffice?

I would rather measure a crystallization transition. Also a small molecule would make for easier sample prep and would probably be more accessible over a long period of time.
