hey another guick chemistry question i need help with
« on: September 19, 2009, 05:36:16 PM »
So im trying to find the thickness of an aluminum foil sheet

"Aluminum metal has a density of 2.70 g/cm3. Calculate the thickness, in inches, of a piece of Aluminum foil weighing 2.87g and measuring 300mm by 0.500 meters."

so this is what i have so far:

(2.87g)(1mc3)(1m       )(1000mm)(    1               )
          (2.70g)(1000cm)(1m       )( (300)(500)mm2)

if anyone can help, please do, im confused on what to do next, and if what i got is correct so far

(using dimensional analysis)

Break down the question into 3 parts

1 what is the volume in cm3 of 2.87g of Al using the density you're given?
2 given the other dimensions what is the thickness in cm
3 convert that value from cm to inch
