Density/Volume Question!
« on: September 19, 2009, 08:57:27 PM »
Hey everyone,

Wondering if I could get some help in the right direction.. Here is what I have so far:

A lump of pure copper weighs 25.021  in air and 22.127  when submerged in water ( = 0.9982 ) at 20.0 . Suppose the copper is then rolled into a 253- foil of uniform thickness. What will this thickness be, in millimeters?

I figured out that the copper has a volume of 2.8992cm^3..

Now I can't figure out the second part.. I have 2 incorrect answers so far of 1.15 and 3.41. Any help?

Volume looks OK.

What does 253-foil mean?

It was supposed to read 253 cm^2... But I solved my problem, I was just off by 1 decimal place, it was 0.115mm :/ Thanks for trying to help though
