Production of NaOH from brine
« on: September 21, 2009, 02:43:23 AM »
Dear Great Members

I'm trying to produce NaOH on a small industrial scale so I have some questions

1- What is the temperature needed to produce NaOH from brine?
2- What is the optimum concentration of brine for effective production?
3- Is there another substitute for the Nafion membrane?

thanks

Hello merlin,

I hate to sound like I am not answering the question, but the answer is 'it depends'.

There are many different types of membranes, with various costs and efficiencies. It really depends on the purity that you want.

Search for Proton Exchange Membrane, or Nafion alternative, and there are quite a few results from google.

Best wishes,

Eugene
