Dimensional analysis
« on: September 25, 2009, 05:44:01 PM »
Hey I know this question is impossibly easy for most people but I can't figure it out for the life of me, so here it is.
2)   A package of aluminum foil contains 50 ft2 of foil, which weighs approximately 8.0 oz.  Aluminum has a density of 2.70 g/cm3.  What is the approximate thickness of the foil in millimeters?
If someone could give me a heads up on how to tackle this thing I would really appreciate it.

You need to do some unit conversions first
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

I understand that, but the problem is I don't know what order or formula to use to determine the final answer.

What is the definition of density?

How do you calculate the volume of a cuboid?

What data do you have from the above formula?

Now rearrange and convert the units to give the answer
