Please see Question :

What is the answer? PLease explain the right answer.
Isn't PVC just another name for poly(chloroethene)?

I'm guessing it's: A - longer & stronger
PVC is longer in structure. And since PVC is hard and rigid as a material - the C-C bond should be stronger.
Is this not right??

True, but that's not what the question is asking you to compare

Similarly "PVC is longer in structure", but you're not looking at the gross structure in the question

"And since PVC is hard and rigid as a material - the C-C bond should be stronger" - this does not necessarily follow.

What is the structure of vinyl chloride?

Can you post the question as text, makes search functions a bit more efficient, and tinypic tends to remove old ones, I've found.

Alright...

Here is the question in text:

Polymerisation of chloroethene gives PVC.
How does the carbon-carbon bond in PVC compare with that in chloroethene?
A longer and stronger
B longer and weaker
C shorter and stronger
D shorter and weaker

What kind of Carbon-Carbon bond is in Chloroethene?
What kind of Carbon-Carbon bond is in PVC?
(Try drawing the stuctures out if you're not sure.)

How do those kind of bonds differ in bond length and bond strength?
(Look up bond length and strength tables if you're not sure.)
