Lewis Structure of Chlorine Nitrate
« on: October 10, 2009, 01:06:08 PM »
Hey guys,
I am not too sure how many nonbonding electrons to have for ClONO2. So far I have:
2 oxygens connected to a nitrogen and the nitrogen is connected to a third oxygen and this oxygen is connected to a chlorine. Now I don`t know if there is a single double bond or two double bonds since the nitrogen has a 1+ formal charge while the one oxygen connected to it has a 1- formal charge so this would make a double bond right.
Thanks for you help.
