Simple stoich problem. Can't finish it. :(
« on: October 12, 2009, 12:21:28 AM »
Given 10.0g of NaOH, what volume of a 0.100M solution of H2SO4 would be required to react all the NaOH?
Okay,
So I balanced the equation I just don't know what to do next.

2NaOH + H2SO4   --------->   Na2SO4 + 2H2O

OK, now, how many moles of H2SO4 will react with 0.25 moles of NaOH?

Where you pointing out the mole to mole ratio? 2 to 1 right?

0.25molesNaOH (1mole H2SO4  /  2 mole NaOH)   =  0.125mol H2SO4

OK, and the final touch - what volume of the 0.1M solution contains 0.125mol H2SO4?

So your asking to find the mass of H2SO4  ?

0.125mol H2SO4 [(98g H2SO4) / (1 mole H2SO4)]

= 12.25gH2SO4

Do i need to convert to ml, if so how?

No!

What is definition of molar concentration?

OK, so you know you have 0.125mol of acid, and you know it has concentration 0.1M. Can you plug these values into the definition and solve for volume?
