Solubilities regarding salicylic acid
« on: October 14, 2009, 06:11:15 PM »
The question is Why is salicylic acid more soluble in 1-octanol than in water.

Ive been browsing the net for info but cant find anything related to the question. All i found was that salicylic acid has poor absorption in water (0.2 g/100 mL H2O at 20 °C)

Unfortunately for me i struggle alot with organic chemistry as think the answer in this question might have something to do with their chemical stuctures. Any help would be much appreciated.

Think in terms of "similar dissolves similar".
