Moles and Molecules
« on: October 16, 2009, 08:04:32 PM »
I'm drawing a blank and can't remember how to do this question.

A natural product has the molecular formula C17H22O8. How many carbon atoms are in 4.21 pg of this compound?

Use unitary method.

n=number of carbon atoms per molecule. (here, n=17)
Let m=molecular mass of compound.(here, m=12x17 + 22x1 + 16x8 = 354)
If m gms compound has 12xn gms of carbon, then how much carbon is present in 4.21pg?
