Polymerization
« on: October 17, 2009, 08:13:54 AM »
Which one of the three (Isotactic, syndiotactic and atactic structures) is the hardest to synthesize?

My answer is Syndiotactic, because it is the strongest polymer of all,
but left in doubt, as being the strongest polymer does not necesarily mean to be the hardest to synthesize.

Any ideas? ;)

I am going to say atactic is the least difficult to synthesize since the substituents are placed randomly along the polymer chain, therefore you wouldn't have to worry about control as much as with the other two. However, I have absolutely no experience with this so my reply is nothing more than an educated guess  ???
