Dehydrations with Alcohols following E1 and E2? Under what conditions?

Hi, what conditions designate whether a molecule with an OH group could follow an E2 or E1 reaction?

I know say H2SO4 + Heat = an E2 reaction right? For what # of carbons (I.E secondary or tertiary, etc) follow which mech?

Think in terms of the reaction mechanism.

What is the Rate Determining step in each reaction? (E1 and E2)
Which intermediate is more stable (if formed)?
What is the rate law for each reaction?
