Structure/Bond
« on: November 23, 2009, 09:58:10 PM »

In the upper, left corner, there are 2 hydrogens.
1 is attached to a carbon, with what looks like a be a very skinny triangle, and the other by a similar shape, but with broken lines that solid.

I've looked around. From what I've seen, I think the solid triangle means it's a polar covalent bond, with the electrons more toward the hydrogen, which I don't think means sense since carbon is more electronegative than hydrogen. I thought this because of the fact that the triangle's base is @ the hydrogen.

So really, what do they mean? I've no idea for the broken line bond.

They refer to the stereochemistry. i.e., the spatial arangement of the hydrogens

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
