Molecular Structure and Bonding
« on: December 06, 2009, 06:13:25 PM »
Hello:

Just a Few Questions:

1) How would you define the shape of a lone chlorine atom along with the hybridization on the 'central atom?' I know how to draw the Lewis structure of chlorine but I'm not exactly sure how to find the other two things.

2) I have properly drawn the Lewis Structure of sulfurous acid but I am having trouble finding the shape of the structure and hybridization of the central atom.

3) I believe that the shape of ozone (O3) is trigonal planar and the hybridization on the central atom is SP2. Am I correct?

Any help is greatly appreciated!
