Why?What?How?
« on: July 06, 2005, 02:31:34 AM »
If we take a 1:1 weight ratio of two solvent and it is analysed by GC then we will not get 50:50? -Reason

Same things holds good in HPLC also. Why?

Please Substantiate?

If you analyse them and just look at area% then you won't get 50:50 due to the varying reponse of the two solvents in FID or UV detection.

Dr. CMS If we take total max plot instead of taking absorbance at wavelength maxima in uv whether we may get 50:50 ?

That may be better but your two solvents will not have identical total absorbances.  You'd need to calibrate with standards to get the correct answer.
