stereoselective reduction of an enone
« on: December 28, 2009, 01:41:46 AM »
What are all the options to stereoselectively reduce an enone.  I've got enzymatic resolution after reduction to the racemic alcohol using pancreatic porcine lipase.  Using BINAP, forming BINAL-H and reducing.

Possibly the Noyori reduction. I know you can reduce beta-keto-esters under Noyori conditions. I think you can do enones as well... I understood that as long as you have some pi electrons near the carbonyl of interest for the catalyst to coordinate with it should work.
