anthracene nomenclature

 ???  Why would a compound be named [...]9,10-dihydro-9,10-dioxo[...]anthracene[...] to describe the position's 9 and 10 double-bonded O atoms, instead of simply 9,10-dioxo without the 9,10-dihydro?
