The making of liquid Gold Chloride (HAuCl4.nH2O)?
« on: January 19, 2010, 12:15:43 PM »
I have been doing a lot of research to create liquid Gold Chloride (HAuCl4.nH2O)

I have found it in powder form and found some instructions on making it using Aqua Regia.

Can I take 1 Gram HAuCl4.nH2O powder and add 99 ml milli-q water to make 1% gold metal?

Or can it only be made using 3:1 aqua regia?

Thank you in advance,
William

So you need such mass of the chloride that contains 1g of Au, it is NOT 1g of AuCl3.

If you know n you can use powdered reagent. However, looks like you are hopelessly confused about concentration calculations, please learn a little bit about moles, masses, molar masses and concentrations, as not having some background knowledge you will be never able to solve such problems by yourself.

Thanks. I will do the research and for now purchase the product instead of creating it.
