Giant covalent and molecular covalent
« on: February 03, 2010, 12:40:01 AM »
Hi everyone, I am currently looking over some bonding and I am wondering if there are any rules that allow you to know which elements when bonded will form a giant covalent structure, as opposed to them forming molecular covalent bonds.
Many thanks for any advice

I did a google search for "giant covalent" and it turned up the following two entries in the first few entries

http://www.chemguide.co.uk/atoms/structures/giantcov.html
http://www.avogadro.co.uk/structure/chemstruc/network/g-molecular.htm

Think about bonds
