Why elute with methanol in reverse SPE?
« on: March 02, 2010, 08:20:11 AM »
Hey chem ppls.

I have a lab later today, and thought I understood what was going on.  On further reading I am now confused.

We are extracting capsaicin using acetonitrile, and then eluting it with methanol.  I thought that with reverse SPE the less polar solvent has higher eluent strength? Which would be the acetonitrile.

Can anyone explain where I am going wrong in my thoughts?
