A home experiment I did.
« on: March 04, 2010, 03:16:19 PM »
I did a solution of salt and vinager and heated it so the salt dissolves faster. Sopposively it makes a small amount of hydrochloric acid.

                                NaCl+ CH3COOH  :rarrow: :rarrow:NaCH3COO,  HCl

Then I droped a nut (the type that is made of metal) into the solution, and after some seconds the nut started bubbling.
I was thinking that the nut was galvanized so it has zinc so this happened.

                  Zn+ HCl :rarrow:ZnCL,  H2

Is that possible.

I was also wondering if this would be true:

              CuSO4 + NahCO3 :rarrow:NaSO4, Cu(OH), CO2

              Cu(OH)2 + NaCl  :rarrow:NaOH, Cu(Cl)2
