Tryptophan to serotonin
« on: March 18, 2010, 03:14:15 PM »
I'm working on a science project, and I can't find the chemical formula for the transformation of tryptophan to serotonin, if anyone knows please reply. It's crucial information for the project, I think I'll fail if I don't know it. =\

I'm desperate  =S

This at least has the biosynthesis:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tryptophan

Are you looking to do your own synthesis in the lab?

No, I'm actually doing a project on bananas, the myth of bananas improving your mood, it's because of the tryptophan. So I have to make an explanation for why.
It's a mix between a research project and lab project, but more research, the lab part is the journal I'm keeping on general mood.

I usually use the Wiki to find sources I can quote not the WIKI itself. A starting point as it were.

I should have pointed out that I would not use WIKI itself as a listed source.
Instead i would look at the sources cited in WIKI and use them if they would make good sources.
