I have no idea how to do this.
3-nitrophthalic acid (NO4C8H5) + Hydrazine (N2H4) ---> 5-Nitrophthalhydrazide (N3C8H504) --> Luminol (C8H7N3O2)
We used 0.30 grams 3-nitrophthalic acid 211.13 g/mol
0.4 mL hydrazine 32.05 g/mol
then used 1.3 mL sodium hydroxide and .8g sodium dithionite
The final yield was 0.33 grams of luminol
I know I have to find the limiting reagent which I believe is the 3-nitropthalic acid, but I am not sure how to show the entire calculation and set it up. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
