Experimental error
« on: April 13, 2010, 05:13:33 AM »
Hi  :)

I have run som experiments, and got these results:

1.15*10^4 +- 2.5*10^3
1.33*10^4 +- 3.6*10^3

My question is: How to calculate the average? Do I just calculate the mean value of the errors to? That doesn`t sound right... Or do I have to add them together?  ???

So, is this right: 1,24*10^4 +- 3,05*10^3
1,24*10^4 +- 6,1*10^3

This should be easy... But somehow I can`t figure it out... I have tried googling, but have only found how to calculate the average of two numbers, and how to calculate the error in one experiment... Not both  :(
