Reaction scheme for [NiNH3)6](BF4)2 production
« on: April 13, 2010, 08:29:22 PM »
Hello

What is the reaction for NiCl2.6H20 dissolved in water. The solution is then mixed with concentrated aqueous ammonia. Does any body know the intermediate steps. My idea is:

NiCl2.6H2O H2O = [Ni(NH3)6Cl2

Ammonia tetrafluoroborate is then added to the solution to form the final product, hexamminenickel(II) tetrafluoroborate.

(NH4(BF4) + NH3 + [Ni(NH3)6]Cl2 = [NiNH3)6](BF4)2

Thanks
