Which Ka Values should be accepted?
« on: April 25, 2010, 02:54:18 PM »
Hello--

I performed an experiment in which I titrated three weak acids. I have multiple Ka values from each graph: before any NaOH was added, at the midpoint, and at the endpoint. A question for my lab writeup asks:

Is there any reason to accept one value over the others? Why?

I would assume that you would want the value that came at the beginning, because you haven't added any base yet, but I really haven't a clue why.

They differ in accuracy.
