Organic Chemistry ACS Final Exam
« on: August 04, 2005, 06:25:11 PM »
Hey everyone I have my final exam in Organic Chemistry 2 monday and it is an ACS Final exam covering all of Organic Chemistry 1 and 2.  Since there is not a national average as of this point the curve will be in the area of 30 points (in General Chemistry the national average is a 50 and therefore the curve is generally 50 points.)  I desperately need a 64 on this exam to pass are there any tips anyone can give or a way to study for it?

Thanks everyone!

standard exam tips:

practise past-year exam questions that test broad-based concepts and favourite exam themes.
"Say you're in a [chemical] plant and there's a snake on the floor. What are you going to do? Call a consultant? Get a meeting together to talk about which color is the snake? Employees should do one thing: walk over there and you step on the friggin snake." - Jean-Pierre Garnier, CEO of Glaxosmithkline, June 2006

Do you have your quizzes, midterms, etc?  Most professors base the questions on the final on whatever they tested already.  They'll be a good starting point if you can't get last year's test.  Also, if he or she's nice guy, there will be more questions on what you've studied recently.  Watch for the favorite reaction, nearly everyone's got a favorite and they'll test you on it for sure.

Finally, memorize those reactions!  If it's an Orgo final, you'll be told to make just about everything from methane or benzene.  In fact, you shouldn't be reading this, you should be reading flash cards with all your reactions and thier products on them.

Well its the American Chemical Society's Standardized test... Therefore it's not weighted it's evenly distributed throughout the entire class...

Looking forward to your replys!
