Gravimetric analysis of BaSO4
« on: June 20, 2010, 10:12:04 PM »
Hi, I need help calculating the % purity and % yield of the BaSO4 obtained as I encountered some problems and I could not find any help.... so pls help me, I would really appreciate it, thnx.... :(

BaCl2 + Na2SO4 --> BaSO4 + 2NaCl

The weight of the BaSO4 obtained is 0.2103g and the molar weight given is 233.33g/mol.
Molarity of SO42- obtained is 3.6051x10-5
Concentration of SO42- is 3.46921 g/L

The 25mL of Na2SO4 is used and 10mL of 10% BaCl2 is used to obtain the precipitate.

The mass of Na2SO4 and BaCl2 were not given

From the information you have given it is not clear what the question & problem is.
