What is sodium formate soluble in?
« on: August 11, 2010, 04:48:07 AM »
I am finding it difficult to find organic solvents that dissolve such simple compound.

Do you know any?

Regards

Apologies...I meant aprotic organic solvents.

Another aspect I am interested in is its conjugated acid:

What is formic acid soluble in? (Aprotic solvents)

More specifically I would like to know whether formic acid is soluble in ethyl acetate

Regards

It will probably react to give ethyl formate and acetic acid and will reach some sort of equilibrium mixture.
