Impure Melting point of sulfanilamide
« on: September 04, 2010, 12:16:42 PM »
I know the pure melting point of sulfanilamide is 164-166C.  I need to compare that too the impure melting point in my lab report, and can't find it online anywhere.

Why should it be online anywhere? Short of you reporting your results online, that is?

Did you measure it in the lab? Do you know if it should be higher, or lower than 164-166°C, for a start?

My results were a 150-166 range, but I can vaguely see it written on the board in my head (what my prof. had written) and I know its much less.

The starting sulfanilamide was contained 5% acetanilide as impurity was dissolved in 95% ethanol.

Don't look online, look in the library.
