Is taking calcium pills to counter diarrhea a good strategy/practice?

Not for chronic diarrea problems, it may be symptomatic of something more severe.

 I don't know why would calcium help, the best he can do is that he replace the lost of electrolytes, I don't think it can help a lot at diarrhea.
