Redox Equations
« on: September 26, 2010, 08:04:49 PM »
So I am told,
if the following redo reactions are found to occur spontaneously, identify the more active metal.
2Li(s) + Cu2+(aq) ---> 2Li+(aq) + Cu(s)
Cr(s) + 3V3+(aq) ---> 3V2+(aq) + Cr3+(aq)
Cd(s) + 2Ti3+(aq) ---> 2Ti2+(aq) + Cd2+(aq)

So for the first one I said Li,
the second one I said Cr,
and the third one I said Cd.

But I am not sure that all of these occur spontaneously?

Am I right in my answers, and do all three occur spontaneously?

"If" means - it doesn't matter if the reaction happens, but what you would deduce assuming you would observe the reaction happening.

You may check redox potentials to see if these reactions occur spontaneously.
