Molarity
« on: October 07, 2010, 11:13:04 AM »
Hi,

In a titration I have a drum of 10.6g L -1 Na2CO3 solution .

What is the molarity of the solution? I pipette 0.025 L of it into a flask.

Is the molarity of the solution => (10.6gL-1/106gmol-1)/0.025L ?

M= 4?

Or is the Molarity 10.6/106 = 0.1?

Thanks for your help

Why not check your units, and see if that helps some?

What is the definition of molarity?

How many moles is 10.6g of sodium carbonate?

Im pretty sure your answer is 4 but this problem is uncomfortable to say the least because when i tried to solve it i got the same thing you did but i came out with moles/Liter squared which isnt right you shouldnt have liters squared. I'll look into it more depending on how much time you have because I'm free later tonight so I will be on here.

If you're new to this level of chemistry, you should be posting in the high school forum not the undergraduate one. On the other hand if you've done at least 4 years of general chem and are now in University, god help the education system wherever you are.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Actually, I am in first year in university.
Secondly, I have done 0 years of general chemistry.
I done a short  part-time course last year ( 2 months long) for 2 hours a week.
I am studying at the best university in Ireland and I got into the course based on other academic results.

I am intelligent enough to succeed in this course with some hard work, I dont need to be spoon feed with '4 years of general chemistry' like narcissistic people like you.

Yeh a genuine fool.  The molarity is not 4.

Molarity is moles per litre.  10.6g of sodium carbonate is 0.1moles.  So a 10.6g/L solution of sodium carbonate would be 0.1M.  That is a very very easy problem.

If you are as intelligent as you suggest to get into Ireland's top university this kind of thing should be simple for you but you are making a complete mess of this and the other questions you have asked and do need spoon feeding to get the right answers.  People are trying to point you in the right directions but you are just not taking the help.

Yeah yeah, Thank god no people like you are in Ireland,
You must spend too much time in the lab=> can't get a girl.

Why don't you drink some HCl and die.

Thanks.

In fact I don't get to spend as much time in the lab as I'd like; these days I spend much more of my time in the office on the phone/computer.
No your right I don't have a girlfriend and to be honest I've not had one in years; I'm sure my wife would kill me if I tried.

I think I'll go with my own drink ideas thanks and I prefer whisky to whiskey

um im not in the middle of this i was just trying to help the guy out and I even admitted I might be wrong and Im fine with being wrong. I joined this site because it is my first year in college. Im in the U.S. and i am an intellectual individual but I am not claiming to be a genius. I'm just on here trying to get help through some of my issues because I'm not perfect. So i'm just going to thank whoever explained the answer and redirected him in the right direction. Let's just keep this professional for the sake of knowledge. Isn't that what this forum is for anyways, fellow chemistry enthusiasts helping one another. So thanks for the help everyone. I hope everything is calm between everyone now and you are all having a good day.

Thanks man , take no notice of them .
They have no personality2 -> not very nice people, maybe they should mind their own business in future instead of posting negative comments.
