Wtf?
« on: October 09, 2010, 09:37:44 PM »
Complete the net ionic equations for the successive reactions that take place when a AgNO3 solution is treated, in turns, with HCL, excess NH3, KBr, Na2S2O3, and KI.

1. Ag+ + Cl- --->

2. AgCl(s) + 2NH3 --->

3. Ag(NH3)2+ + Br- --->

4. AgBr(s) + 2S2O3 2- --->

5. Ag(S2O3)2 3-  +  I- --->

Rank solutions in terms of decreasing free Ag+

.1 M AgNO3, saturated AgCl, saturated AgBr, saturated AgI, Ag(NH3)2+, and Ag*S2O3)2 3-

Alright, what in the hell is the question asking?

Is it like this:

1. Ag+ + Cl- ---> AgCl(s)

2. AgCl(s) + 2NH3 ---> Cl- + Ag(NH3)2 +

3. Ag(NH3)2+ + Br- ---> AgBr + 2NH3

4. AgBr(s) + 2S2O3 2- ---> Ag(S2O3)2 3- + Br-

5. Ag(S2O3)2 3-  +  I- ---> AgI + 2S2O3 3-

Seriously... Help please?

You are probably right, but for clarity you should at least mark solids in products with (s).
