TLC help?

hi guys
as you know it is impossible to monitor all of compounds with TLC, can you tell me why? and what is the restrictions here and also when someone wants to determine a neat liquid he should prepare a blank solution how it is prepared?

I believe the 3 biggest restrictions are: a) the target compound must be non-volatile, b) not all compounds can be easily detected, c) method is qualitative.
