Magnesium and sulfur dioxide
« on: December 13, 2010, 03:20:27 PM »
Is it true that if you burn magnesium in an atmosphere of sulfur dioxide, you get MgO and Sulfur?
It seems to be similar to magnesium in an atmosphere of carbon dioxide.

Also, I remember a demo that some teacher did in high school. I'm not sure what the starting material was but after 1 minute or 2 minutes, it turns yellow. Sulfur is one of the products.
