Why is methane gas not ideal at very low temperatures and high pressures?

Does the question mean why methane gas it not an "ideal gas" or if its just not ideal?

with high pressures and low temperature, ideal gas volumes decrease. Is methane an exceptiong to this or does it possess other unusual characteristics?
