A typical example is when stainless steel is exposed to higher temperatures and chrome is removed. When the protective chrome coating is removed, then corrosion (pitting or other types) occur.

yeah it was very helpful.

also if you pls can help me that i am confused alittle bit about uniform corrosion does it chemical corrosion (oxidation of metal ) or electrochemical (require anodic and cathodic sites)

Hello aeacfm,

Uniform corrosion can be through controlled mechanical or chemical erosion.  As long as the wear is consistent accross the face, then it is uniform.

One of many methods to control corrosion rates is electrochemical.  Electrochemical can also (accidently) accelerate corrosion.
