About IR/Raman spectra and character tables.

I need a guide for predict active signals in IR/raman spectra using character tables, i don't remember it and I always hate that.

Anyone helps me?

I know this dosen't help you short term, but you might want to pick up a solid inorganic text with character table explinations in it.  I think Miessler and Tarr do a pretty good job explaining it, though they lack enough examples (in my opinion).

You just look at the right of charac table.
if there is letters x or y or z, they will be IR active!

Just remember what's IR active is not Raman active and vice versa (or so I recall, I'm not physical chemist and I'm too tired to look through my old texts from university).

I just remember, thanks, but I still hate it. Tedious and useless work ¬¬

We use "Cotton, Chemical applications of groups theory"  book as guide... Disgusting book. On a test I had to solve bonds orders using proyection operators, huckel's approximation. I always has doubted about how useful for chemistry is that...

Wish me luck, I have the last exam of this on thuesday. s*** happens xd
