one simple question
« on: August 31, 2005, 10:26:12 PM »
My teacher gave me a homework, but he didn't explain how to do it at all. And the other problem is that, the solution isn't available in the textbook.

Here is one of them:

Write the equations for Zinc Nitrate dissolves in water

Dissolves? I've never neard of it before. If somebody can give me how to do this one, I must be able to do the rest. Thanks.

you forgot to balance

dissolution for salts usually involve the splitting up of its component ions, as illustrated in the previous posts.

water is the greatest solvent on earth - it'll dissolve everything given enough time.

Really ? Water should not dissolve non-polar molecules like mathane , CO . coz they dont form hydrogen bonds and dipole-dipole interaction with water which is polar . right ??

Ok, I can do it. Thanks everybody.
But there's one strange question, no, it's not about dissolving anymore, but this time:
Sodium bromide decomposes to yield the elements which it is made

 ??? ??? Uh, I don't get it at all.
